About Hollis K-9
Where it all began…
Courtney Hollis, owner and lead dog trainer, founded Hollis K-9 Coaching to provide clients with excellent private dog training instruction, board and train services, adventure days, and boarding services to clients living in Bartlesville and Tulsa, OK, as well as Missouri.
Courtney cultivated a love for animals her entire life but developed a special passion for horses at a young age. She got her start in animal training when helping her grandfather train horses which turned into her founding her own horse training business.
Courtney’s interest in dog training came in 2016 when she found herself with a German Shepherd puppy that had extreme fear and anxiety. Everything she knew to do with dogs to aid in their training wasn’t working which then caused her to dive into researching behavioral science and psychology in dogs.
While she gained a lot of knowledge and skills through online courses, books, and dog trainer programs, she knew she needed more on-the-job experience, so she reached out to a local trainer (Jessi at ROC Animal Training and Behavior) and began taking in person classes with her pup.
As classes were finishing up Jessi offered Courtney an opportunity to mentor her so she could gain some much needed hands-on experience. Courtney started out as an assistant during private lessons and group classes. Then, she was soon running beginner group classes, private lessons, more advanced group classes, and behavior modification all on her own.

Since then Courtney has worked closely with multiple other established trainers in the pet training and dog sport world. As she continued in her dog training career, Courtney participated in many different sports with her personal dogs including dock diving, scentwork, shed hunting, wounded, game recovery, disc, and her and her dogs personal favorite Shutzhund (IGP) which is a 3 phase sport that includes tracking, obedience, and protection. Playing and training in these sports helped Courtney grow so much as a trainer. It also gave her a broad range of skills and creativity when addressing behavioral issues with her dog clients.
After many years working under other dog trainers and participating in multiple dog sports, Courtney decided to open up her own training business in order to help busy and frustrated families tame and train their canine family members!

“We had an amazing experience working with Courtney! We purchased her training and board + train services where she educated us on the best practices and solutions for the concerns we had with our dog, Sirius. With her help, he has turned into such a wonderful companion! We now also have more peace-of-mind boarding him with Courtney because he genuinely likes and feels safe with her!”
